  Business Development

Product Development & Prototyping
We move efficiently to provide proof of concept. Our technical team has proficiency in all aspects of engineering including device design, materials testing, prototyping and manufacturing techniques, bench and tissue testing, preclinical studies, and CAD/CAM/SolidWorks expertise.

Market Analysis & Development
The Foundry’s evaluation process includes a thorough market analysis containing financial models, budgeting and revenue projections. The process also addresses a market development plan that can be implemented with commercialization. All factors involved in determining the current market dynamics are considered, including incidence and prevalence of the clinical need, competitive/predicate device cost, procedural cost, reimbursement issues, target physician, referral patterns, and competitive clinical solutions.

Human Resources & Recruitment
The Foundry has extensive experience and success in attracting and recruiting key executives, employees, clinical advisors, and board members based on the tremendous network of medical device professionals.

Intellectual Property Expertise
Evaluating patentability and freedom to operate is a strong core competency at The Foundry. Our technical team has over 300 pending and issued U.S. patents during their careers. The Foundry also routinely acquires or licenses key intellectual property as part of the of development of broad, comprehensive portfolios for our companies. Documenting ideas and filing intellectual property claims is a key part of our Development Process.

Regulatory Strategy, Pre-Clinical & Clinical Support
We leverage our large network of academic and clinical thought leaders to collaborate on product testing and clinical trials. The Foundry team has been instrumental in the planning and management of preclinical and feasibility studies as well as the development of regulatory strategies, trial design, preparation of FDA submissions and reimbursement strategies. We have been closely involved in numerous 510 (k) and PMA clinical trials and have direct clinical experience in such diverse areas as aesthetics, anesthesia, cardiac surgery, cardiology, dermatology, gastroenterology, interventional neuroradiology, ophthalmology, and pulmonology.

A significant aspect of setting a company up for long-term success is mentoring entrepreneurs. The Foundry’s team has extensive expertise in sharing their diverse experiences and mentoring while also managing companies from the ground up. This collective experience allows us to attract and recruit from an unparalleled network of medical device company executives, industry thought leaders, and clinicians.

Operations & Infrastructure
The Foundry offers complete operational and infrastructure support including office space, research and development lab with full device prototyping and testing capabilities, wet lab, chemistry development facilities, machine shop and clean room in addition to IT infrastructure, human resources, and finance and accounting support.

Fundraising and Financial Support
The Foundry funds their businesses through solid relationships with their extensive network of venture and private equity capital firms.
